Craigslist Find: 327ci V8 Powered 510

We've said it before and we'll say it again, V8 swapped 510's are absolutely insane... and we love them. We know it's wrong to completely overpower a short wheel base car with massive amounts of low end torque and horse power, but Pete Brock drives a V8 swapped 510. The Father of Datsun racing can't be wrong. This particular 510 has had an entire book of performance parts and mods thrown at it including moving the firewall and engine back, coil-over suspension, and full roll cage. You probably can already hear us whining about the automatic, but we really would love to see a 5 speed in this thing. Find it here, in Willow Glen, CA, for $6,000 OBO. The seller is willing to let it go without the motor and trans for less if you're thinking of swapping something else into the car.

Craigslist Find: '68 Ford Torino Fastback, Drag Racing Art

Most cars that run a sub 10 second quarter mile time are very rarely anything that we would call beautiful, let alone a work of art. This Torino Fastback has been built with an exquisite attention to detail and looks better than just about any other Torino we've seen. This car has won multiple shows and is a serious contender in the NHRA circuit. Find it here, in Eagle, AZ, for $21,000 sans motor, trans, and racepac. The seller states that if you want the car running, they will negotiate on price.

450HP and 2500LBS sounds like a good time to us. This little 914 is bound to test your limits and skill as a driver (or even as helpless passenger). The Chevy 350 is running Edelbrock tunable port injection and revs to a very respectable 7,000rpm. Everything looks to have been done right with no corners cut. We really like the roll-cage wrap and would love to throw this into some corners at our favorite local canyon road! Find it here in Los Gatos, CA, for $20,000.

When planning a motor swap for a small car like a 2002 or a 510, you have to consider the very real possibility that your dream swap may overpower the chassis. The sensible choice is to keep torque low and power high so that everything remains predictable or sink more time and money into the chassis. This 2002 looks to have been built to keep this all aluminum Buick 215ci in check. The wide box flares, cage, posi, T5 trans, and big disk brakes look to be top quality. The four downdraft Weber carbs look, sound, and should perform amazingly. That being said, the Webers need to be rebuilt and re-tuned. Not an easy task, even for those who are very familiar with carburetors. Find this balanced monster here, in Mission Viejo, CA, for $20,000.

It's not very often that Italians invade your town, but when they do it's a very welcome sight. 

eBay Find: Turbo LSX Powered Studebaker Commander

One of the prettiest and quickest cars ever offered by Studebaker is the Commander and this particular Commander has received a second chance at that life. While not currently "pretty", this car is dead to nuts cool. The original paint has become a nice patina from the car sitting outside in LA for 21 years. This car was saved from it's backyard prison and given a new lease on life with a 5.3 from a 2000 Silverado and a T-56 from a 2005 GTO. Then it got a turbo. This Derelict style Stud has been daily driven for the last two months and we have to say that we would keep it just the way it is. Craigslist Find: V8 Swapped '69 Porsche 912

It seems to be a good time to be in the market for a vintage Porsche. This '69 912 has had a Chevy 350 swap which makes the phrase "Never lift." more true than ever before. We bet it launches off the line like a bat-outta-hell but when it comes to the twisties it's sure to be more than a tail happy handful. This car has a long list of mods including coil-over suspension. The seller states that the only issues is that the car overheats in traffic, which can probably be solved with a better radiator or more efficient cooling fans. Craigslist Find: V8 Powered 510 Project

Looking to throw the odds on that life expectancy bet you and your friends made? A V8 powered Datsun 510 should do the trick. This car will be devastatingly quick in a straight line (if you can get traction) and will be more than a handful in the corners if you keep the old cast iron motor that it's got.  Our suggestion is to dump the old motor for a LS1 to maintain, if not improve, the weight distribution over a stock 510 and improve all around efficiency. You could also try shoehorning a VQ35 into that tight space in the firewall to get the motor completely behind the front struts. The chassis is rocking a full roll cage but we're questioning the effectiveness of the bolt on bracing in the engine bay. The firewall has been pushed back a considerable amount in an attempt to get the motor back behind the struts and the original 510 grill has been replaced by something else entirely. This is another great deal for $3,000, especially when you consider the amount of work you're getting. Suspension and brakes are not mentioned, so budget accordingly. Find it here in Sacramento, CA.
