1973 Toyota Celica, 4AGE Swap
We've always felt that the first generation Cougar is one of the most under-appreciated muscle/pony cars of the late 60's. It's a more luxurious option to the Mustang and has wonderful proportions. We think this car could look very interesting if done in a pro-touring style with some classic Japanese car influences like bolt on fender flares and matte black Panasport type wheels. In our opinion, this car shares a similar silhouette and body lines to the Hakosuka Skyline. This particular car looks like a good base for a crazy(ridiculous) project like the one we have envisioned or is perfect for a loving restoration. 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator
For some people, the S14 that comes stock in the E30 M3 just doesn't have enough power or torque for their needs. This is the perfect project for that kind of person. Two owners ago wanted to stuff the V10 from a M5 in between those strut towers, which would be lovely, but plans changed and the car was sold before the project could really even start. As it sits now, it's a complete E30 M3 sans motor and trans. This is a great opportunity for someone to create their dream M3 with a very small amount of work. If you're looking for an investment car, chances are you're looking for something that is popular and just so happens to be affordable. This '68 Mustang Fastback should fit the bill. The paint is photo friendly and the car comes with a very desirable 302/4 speed drive line combo. The ad does elude to the motor, trans, and paint being original, but that would need to be confirmed with the seller. There is some rust, but nothing serious. 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback
We've said it before and we'll say it again, V8 swapped 510's are absolutely insane... and we love them. We know it's wrong to completely overpower a short wheel base car with massive amounts of low end torque and horse power, but Pete Brock drives a V8 swapped 510. The Father of Datsun racing can't be wrong. This particular 510 has had an entire book of performance parts and mods thrown at it including moving the firewall and engine back, coil-over suspension, and full roll cage. You probably can already hear us whining about the automatic, but we really would love to see a 5 speed in this thing. Find it here, in Willow Glen, CA, for $6,000 OBO. The seller is willing to let it go without the motor and trans for less if you're thinking of swapping something else into the car.
1970 Datsun 510, 327ci Swap
This '94 Mustang looks like a great base for someone who wants to drive to work in their race car. There isn't much done to the motor, so the stock 5.0 should be running for quite awhile and the chassis has received several upgrades to include an eight point roll cage as well as after market suspension. 1994 Ford Mustang, Weekend Racer
We're pretty sure that there were no roots style supercharger manufacturers for Datsuns, let alone the 510. Someone went through some pretty amazing fabrication work to stick a blower on this L20B and we like it. Aside from the crazy cool supercharged L20B this car has fenderflares (they look like they're from a MK1 rabbit), a welded diff, 5 speed trans(!), S2000 brake master cylinder, and slicks. There are some other cool parts in this build, but the car still needs to be finished. It looks like this car was being setup to be a drag car so there may need to be some fine tuning if you're looking to do another application. Datsun 510, Roots Blown L20B
This Mustang looks like a great deal for someone who's just looking to have some fun in a vintage muscle car for cheap. The 4 valve 289 four speed combo is sure to put a grin on your face while cruising around town or on your favorite twisty road. The car looks straight but because of the salvage title we would inspect it very closely. We love the vintage Recaro seats and the car comes with an uninstalled four point roll bar for those of you who want to turn this into a more serious performance car. 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe, 289 Four Speed
We look forward to the day when 2011 and up Mustang GT's litter our scrap yards like Fox body Mustangs do today. It'd be nice to see these motors be more affordable and used in more swaps. We won't call this car a swap, but we love the application of a new 5.0 in a an old roadster body. Check out the auction to see pics of the glorious chassis and all the amazing suspension work the Factory 5 puts into their cars. We've got a thing for cantilevered/pushrod suspension in unexpected places. This car should be an absolute screamer on the street and track. We'd daily this roadster in a heart beat. That's not to say this car doesn't need some tlc at the moment. Judging from the pics, the frame hasn't been powder coated or painted yet and it looks like the body hasn't been sealed either. Factory 5 '33 Roadster, Coyote Powered
Despite the 530I's nameplate, this car isn't equipped with the expected 3.0 inline 6, but a 3 litre V8 that produces about 210hp and 210tq. This car looks to be in good condition and is equipped with a fairly rare manual transmission. The stance is perfect and there isn't much that we don't like about it. About the only thing that we would like to see changed is a set of catalytic converters and a black or dark brown interior. Find it here, in Richmond, TX, for $8,500.
1994 BMW 530i
The Buick Grand National turbo V6 was the LS1 of motor swaps in the 80's. We've seen them in everything from Datsun pick ups to Corvettes. This is the first time we've seen one in a Triumph and this has got to be one ridiculously fast car. Not only does this little TR7 have the motor and trans a of a GN, but the builder also managed to shove the rear-end under the little Triumph as well. The seller states that there's something not quite right with the swap as it falls on it's face under heavy acceleration. This sounds like a boost problem to us, but there is a myriad of issues that could be causing this symptom, (fuel, spark, ECU, plugged cats, etc). This would be an amazing car when sorted out. 1980 Triumph TR7, Complete Buick Grand National Drive-Train
Here's a good deal on a Barracuda project that looks to have a very straight body and relatively rust free. This car isn't anything special from the factory so you could do something custom if you wanted. The car comes with the original drive-train if you want to restore. 1972 Plymouth Barracuda Project
The M535i was the M5 before the M5. It was as high performance as possible at the time, sporting a 215hp/230tq 3.4ltr straight 6 with uprated brakes, suspension, and diff. These cars were only made between 1979 and 1981 and were only available in the European markets. This car is in pretty good condition but does need some love. The current owner has done quite a few bits of good maintenance that should keep it on the road for many years to come. Some of the issues are rusty doors, clutch/throwout bearing, and an aged interior. On the subject of the interior, we love it. There's a lot of detail that you just don't get in any of the more modern Bimmers. The color combo is nice on this car and we think it could clean up into something very special. 1981 BMW M535I
We've seen plenty of L28ET swapped 240Z's, but this one is not only a very clean example of the S30 chassis, it's also a great deal. Especially when you consider that it comes with a complete extra turbo motor should anything go wrong with the one currently in the car. We love the color combo and very traditional body as well as the super clean interior. The seller does mention that there is some smoking coming from the valve cover and there are some very small rust spots. This has got to be the best Datsun deal on the East Coast right now. 1973 Datsun 240z, L28ET Swap
To just say that this car needs "work" is a bit of an understatement. It was wrecked back in 1965 and has sat ever since, with staggeringly low miles. To know if this car is really worth the asking price, you need to find out what original equipment came on the car and if the engine block is savable. The manual trans gives us hope that this car is rarer than your average split window, but we also need to know if the title is salvaged. This car could end up being worth a small fortune, but it may take an equally sized fortune to get it into that condition. Find it here, in Houston, TX, for $25,000.
1963 Chevy Corvette Split Window Coupe Project
One of the easiest ways to get a lot of attention at a car show is shock value. We can't think of anything more shocking than a Ford Woody Wagon that's running a Dodge Viper power-train. Aside from having this very surprising power-plant, this car has had several nice body and suspension mods that have this car well on it's way to getting some serious hot rod cred. This build already has a pile of high dollar parts that is sure to cost more than the asking price. Find it here in Farmingdale, NY, for $12,000. This car is at a nice point in the build where the next owner can either go crazy with body and interior, or wrap it up and have this car on the road in a couple of months!
1951 Ford Woody Project, Viper Powered
A supercharged V8 and some serious road racing suspension, what's not to like? Well... The Fox Body Mustang may not be the best looking car (especially when the paint is in less than show room condition), but has always been a performance bargain. If you were a track rat growing up, like some of us, then you probably had a friend or two with 5.0 Mustangs that would walk all over every other car in the group, with very minimal mods. So, after many years of therapy, we can now say "the 5.0 Mustang is a good car" and not spit up blood. We think this car is a great performance bargain as it's supercharged, has Griggs full road race suspension, and roll-cage. The paint needs work and we'd would change/paint those wheels immediately. Every generation of the Esprit has been a sexy car, but this is (by a very wide margin) the best looking Esprit we've seen. This car not only has low miles, but is relatively stock as well. The only modifications stated by the seller are lowering springs, HRE wheels, new clutch, and several transmission mods. 1986 Lotus Esprit
The Europa is definitely one of the more odd profiles to come out of the 60's, but that doesn't mean it isn't beautiful and a ton of fun to drive. This particular car has had a nice upgrade to a Gordini Cross Flow motor and is currently being fueled by twin Weber DCOE's. There is some fine tuning that needs to be done as there is a fuel level issues with the Webers. This car looks great overall and should make for a great bargain for any enthusiast at $11,500 OBO. 1969 Lotus Europa
Fastback Mustangs are some of the most sought after classic cars in the world and while the 1970 model isn't at the top of everyone's desirability chart, it's still a sexy beast. Especially when done like this one. The black on black on black scheme looks great and has a very nice "second read" effect when you notice the matte black Boss 302 vinyls. This car has the very desirable 4-speed manual trans and 302 drive-train combo as well as some other nice chassis and brake upgrades. We really like the wheels and think that this is a very nice classic muscle car look. The seller states that the paint was not done "right" by the body shop he took the car to and there is some "bubbling' in the paint.
