Event: 2011 Coronado Festival of Speed, Part 2

Sometimes, it's difficult to put into words why you like a car. This is not one of those times.

This CSL is clearly a veteran of the grid, with years upon years of battle scars.
Every corner tells a story of endurance, joy, and frustration.
What we'd give to pen our own chapter in this cars history.
We hope to see this car to run for many, many more years.
Another German that stole our hearts, the Porsche 906.
As close to Italian styling as you can get in a German car.
Prepped and getting ready to head out for a race. This should give you an idea of just how low and compact these cars are.

Flat 6 with vintage fiberglass velocity stacks.
Love the leather caps!
Snug.

Decisions, decisions.
We'd take this Bulebird coupe in a heartbeat!
We normally don't car for shaved bumpers or two tone paint jobs on these cars but this one does everything just right.
The JDM dash is so much nicer than what we got in America!
We still can't believe that someone would take a car as rare as this racing. Although if you consider that this car's value is a mere pittance compared to some it's fellow competitors, it kind of makes sense.
Surely you wouldn't toss a car as rare and valuable as a 300SL into the fray of a serious vintage race, would you?
You would be mistaken. This car was out and running with the best of 'em!
The SL was up against some stiff competition though. Look forward to our continued coverage of the 2011 Coronado Festival of Speed! We've got some pics of a very special Jaguar D-Type that was owned by a Mr. McQueen.
