Event: JCCS 2012, Part 5

As usual, Toyota brought out some of their most iconic eye candy. Surprisingly, they weren't the only ones who brought a 2000GT.

This car is privately owned and absolutely spotless.
The 2000GT is one of the most beautiful Japanese cars ever made and without a doubt, the most beautiful Toyota!
Stunning at every angle.
We love the bright work and rich wood grain.
It's rare to see one of these cars ever, so seeing two in the same color within 100 feet of each other is almost a once in a life time event.
The legendary two liter straight six that produced 150hp was amazing performance for it's day.
Only 351 of these cars were produced for world consumption and only 60 of those cars came to the US.
This motor was supposedly capable of 31mpg's and had a top speed of 135mph.
A better look at that dash.
There was another special Toyota at the show that was the 2000GT's senior.
The Sports 800 was Toyota's first venture into the performance car world.
Powering this mighty machine was a 790cc boxer two air-cooled two cylinder that produced a whopping 45hp.
That minimal horsepower was acceptable because these cars weighed in at just under 1300lbs.
That's 1000lbs less than a Datsun 510, a car that is ridiculously light by modern standards.
There were a total of 3100 cars made, but only about 10% of that number have survived the test of time.
It really is a pity that these cars weren't as cherished as they should have been.
The FRS is the only sports car holding up Toyota's economy performance lineage at the moment and it's quite regrettable. Yes. We balked at the presence of the Camry among the legends, but it's because Toyota sells so many appliance cars that they can produce some of the best Performance niche cars of all time. It's kind of a "Lest we forget" statement.
