Event: 2011 Coronado Festival of Speed, Part 4

Can't get enough CANAM.

We have no idea how this makes it over berms, banked corners, small pebbles, and whatever else may be on a race track.
You know you're in for a good ride when a stack of your two tires is taller than your car.

If a modern designer approached his boss at Chrysler and said "I want to create a car with a handmade interior that has real metal buttons, real chrome trim, and I want it to cost less than $50,000!" he would be promptly and silently be escorted to the copy room, never to design again.

This is how you rebody a new car to look like an old icon.
A good chassis with a monster power-plant for a base. Motors don't get much more monsterous than a RennTech twin turbo V12.
Add money, lots of money.
We'd never guess that this car was actually a modern SL600 when we saw driving home from the show!

Vintage centrifugal supercharging.
Our next post on Coronado will wrap up the event with even more amazing pieces of automotive history!
