Forum Find: 1973 Dastun 240z 3.1 stroker motor with Mikunis

Found on the amazing site Hybridz.org comes a really clean '73 240z thats been stroked from a 2.8 to a 3.1 and breathing through a set of Mikuni carburetors. Link after the jump

This car has a really nice vintage style with modern touches seamlessly integrated inside and out. Most notably is the carbon fiber bumpers and spoiler. All the trim has been shaved as well as the side markers leaving this body really clean and sleek. We normally like our Dats to be a bright and cheerful color but this one looks just plain gorgeous in black. The seller states that this car has been up on a lift and no rust was found, a rare thing for vintage japanese cars. The interior is looking really good with the deep dish Nardi wheel and the shift knob adds a pleasant dot of natural bright color.

As far as good motor setups go, this is one of the best carbed options for these cars. The 3.1 L28 is really strong and makes good hp and tq (not to mention a fantastic soundtrack). The seller has done a lot of work and replaced many pricey items on the car, so his price seems quite reasonable. The seller also states that the car could use a new carpet and the dash is cracked.  Both are purchases that could be made on eBay for relatively cheap. As awesome as everything is on this car you need to remember that it has triple Mikuni carbs on it and is an older car. Carbs need to be retuned every few months and these carbs in particular are not easy. They require a flow meter, a set of jets, and good amount of patience. But when everything is tuned properly these carbs make great power and sound simply amazing. As awesome as a Datsun with a modern motor swap is, there just isn't anything quite as appropriate as a straight six with triple carbs.

Location: Bothel/Kenmore (Seattle area), WA
Seller is asking $9500(obo)

These cars had some big competition in the sports car market back when they were first released. The American market was already saturated big motor muscle cars were the hot seller. This was an era of bigger is better and the 2.4 in the 240z wasn't exactly going to slay the goliath big blocks found in the Mopars, Chevys, and Fords.  What the little Z lacked in cubic inches it made up for with light weight and advanced suspension technologies. The 240z proved it's worth on the road coarse and hill climbs claiming several victories along the way.
